DEVELOPING NEWS:

The SUHSD is currently contending with budget shortfalls in the millions of dollars, due to State cutbacks that continue to threaten or eliminate adult education throughout California.

Randy Bangs, former Director of ROP, has been appointed the District's Director of Alternative Education, which now includes the Salinas Adult School and ROP. His office is at the SAS site. Also housed at SAS is the office of Ivonne Glenn, Assistant Director of Alternative Education.
Yvonne Ricketts, former Parent Center and Health Education Coordinator, is now be Salinas Adult School Administrative Coordinator. Gina Muller, former Asst. Director of Salinas Adult School, is now at ROP.

It is planned that Salinas Adult School programs will continue next school year much as they are now. SAS classified staff are reduced to a ten-month year, and many are in the process of reassignment, retirement. A few will be continuing at SAS.

Summer School is limited to ACE classes, online Distance Learning and CASHEE Prep Classes.

"Stay tuned" and we'll post any new information as we get it. Thanks to all who are speaking up for Adult Education in our valley!
